The short version. This agreement gives you the right to use AFDIM, not ownership of it. Each licence works on one computer. A trial lasts 7 days, once per computer. Quarterly and yearly licences run until the end date in the licence file and do not renew automatically. A perpetual licence never ends: it runs, for good, the versions released during its 12 months of updates and support, and a later version needs an update renewal. You may not copy or resell AFDIM, share one licence across several computers, or tamper with its licence checks. Every drawing you make is yours. AFDIM never sends your drawings, and its update check sends nothing about your computer. The software is provided as is, and you must check every dimension it produces. Liability is capped at what you paid in the 12 months before the first event giving rise to the claim, or for a perpetual licence at what you paid for it. The Licensor is one individual resident in Vietnam. The Licensor may later transfer this agreement to a company they set up, subject to the assumption of obligations and consent requirements in section 11.
This is revision 5 of the AFDIM licence terms. It is the same agreement the AFDIM installer asks you to accept.
The User is the individual or organisation acquiring the licence. A person accepting for an organisation must have authority to bind it. Its authorised employees and contractors may use the licensed computer for its work, without sharing the licence across computers. The User must receive and accept this agreement before use. Installation by a third party or an automatically created technical record does not by itself establish acceptance.
1. Parties
Licensor: TÔ VĂN TÍN, an individual (a natural person) resident in Vietnam who trades under the brand AFDIM (the “Licensor”). The Licensor is not a company. Postal address: Đông Môn Residential Group, Hòa Bình Ward, Hải Phòng City, Vietnam (postal code 04308). Contact, including formal notices under this agreement: support@afdim.com.
All orders are paid through Paddle, meaning the applicable Paddle entity identified at checkout and on the receipt under https://www.paddle.com/legal/buyer-terms. Paddle is the Merchant of Record and handles payment, tax, invoices and refunds. The Licensor does not take direct payments. The Licensor grants the Software licence under this agreement; the payment transaction is subject to Paddle buyer terms and mandatory buyer rights.
2. Licence grant
The Licensor grants the User a non-exclusive, non-transferable right, revocable only under section 10, to install and use the Software, limited to the number of licences purchased.
- One licence, one computer. Each licence covers one seat, which is one computer. Licences are node-locked: a licence file works only on the computer it was issued for.
- Plans. A quarterly or yearly licence allows use of the Software until the end date written in the licence file. Quarterly and yearly plans do not renew automatically: each purchase pays for one period, and nothing more is charged unless the User buys another period. A perpetual licence has no end date; section 3 sets out what it covers.
- Activation. A licence is activated in one of two ways. With a licence key, which the Licensor sends by email: the User enters the key in the Software, which must be online while it activates, and the licence server issues a licence for that computer. Or, for a computer that cannot go online, by an exchange of files: the Software produces a licence request, as a request code or a request file, the Licensor checks the request and issues a signed licence file by hand, and the User loads that file. The 7-day trial starts from inside the Software while it is online, or through the same licence request. Licence delivery time: within 3 business days after a complete request is received and, for a purchase, the payment is confirmed. Business days are counted in the ICT (UTC+7) time zone.
- Moving to another computer. Reinstalling Windows on the same computer needs no move: the same licence key is entered, or the same licence file loaded, again. If the Software does not accept it, the Licensor re-issues the licence for that computer free of charge. The User may move a licence activated with a licence key: the Software releases it from the computer it runs on, which must be online, once the User has written the reason for the move, and the key is then entered on the new computer. The reason is stored with the move. A key can be moved this way once it has been on the computer for 30 days: a quarterly or yearly key at most twice in any 365 days, and a perpetual key once in total, only in the first 365 days after purchase. Renewing updates does not restore the perpetual key’s used move or extend its first-year window. Any further or earlier move, a move away from a computer that no longer works, a hardware change the Software does not accept, and a move of a licence issued by hand require the Licensor’s approval, and are done by re-issuing the licence; a licence on a computer that has stopped working for good is always moved. Once a licence moves, the User’s right to use the Software under it on the previous computer ends, and the Licensor may withdraw the licence issued for that computer (section 10).
- Host application. The Software runs only inside full AutoCAD®, ZWCAD, GstarCAD or BricsCAD on Windows, in the releases and editions its installer and website list as supported. The User must license that CAD separately from its vendor (Autodesk, Inc., ZWCAD Software Co., Ltd., Gstarsoft Co., Ltd. or Bricsys NV). It does not run in editions that cannot load .NET plug-ins, such as AutoCAD LT, ZWCAD Standard or BricsCAD Lite.
- The Software is a commercial product and is licensed, not sold.
- Drawings and any data the User produces with the Software belong entirely to the User. The Licensor claims no rights over your drawings.
3. Perpetual licences
- What it covers. A perpetual licence has no end date. It allows the User to use, for good and on one computer, every version of the Software released during its update period. The update period starts on the date of purchase and lasts 12 months. Its end is written in the licence file and shown in the Software as “updates until” followed by the date.
- Updates and support. During the update period the User receives the new versions of the Software as they are released, and email support. A version released after the update period has ended does not run under the licence: the Software refuses to start with it, and its update check does not install it. The versions released during the period keep running, for good, under the licence.
- New CAD releases. Autodesk, ZWSOFT, Gstarsoft and Bricsys release new versions of their CAD every year, and a new CAD release can need a newer version of the Software: AutoCAD 2027, for example, moved to .NET 10, and the Software needed a new build to run in it. A version released during the update period is therefore not promised to run in a CAD release that comes out later. To use the Software with a later CAD release, the User may need a newer version, and so an update renewal.
- Update renewal. The User may renew the update period, 12 months at a time, at the price shown on afdim.com. A renewal made before the update period ends adds 12 months to its current end, so no time is lost. A renewal made after it has ended runs for 12 months from the date of the renewal, and every version released up to the new end then runs under the licence, including the versions released while the period had lapsed. A renewal is delivered as a licence with the new end of the update period, which the Software receives as section 2 describes.
- If the Software is discontinued. The Licensor may stop developing, selling or supporting the Software. The versions already released keep working under the perpetual licences issued for them. The Licensor announces the end in advance at afdim.com. Before support stops, the Licensor releases a final version and offers each holder of a perpetual licence a licence that is not tied to one computer and does not need the licence server, for the versions their licence covers.
4. Trial versions
A trial licence is valid for 7 days and stops working when it expires. It is issued in the same way as a paid licence, for one computer. Trials are for evaluation only.
Each computer can have one trial, once, for as long as it keeps the same hardware. Reinstalling the Software or Windows does not give it another trial, and a trial is not extended. To keep using the Software after the trial, the User needs a paid licence.
5. Restrictions
The User may not:
- copy, resell, rent, lend or otherwise distribute the Software to third parties;
- reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, modify or otherwise attempt to derive the source code, except to the extent applicable law permits regardless of this agreement;
- disable, circumvent or tamper with the licensing, activation, licence-check or update mechanisms, including by editing a licence file;
- remove or obscure any proprietary notice contained in the Software;
- share one licence across several seats at the same time.
6. Ownership
The Software, its source code, algorithms, user interface, documentation and all updates remain the property of the Licensor. This agreement grants a right of use only and transfers no ownership.
AutoCAD® is a registered trademark of Autodesk, Inc. ZWCAD is a trademark of ZWCAD Software Co., Ltd. GstarCAD and BricsCAD are trademarks of their respective owners, Gstarsoft Co., Ltd. and Bricsys NV. AFDIM is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any of these companies.
7. Updates and data sent
The Software checks a signed update feed at update.afdim.com over HTTPS to find out whether a newer version exists.
-
The check is a plain HTTPS request. The server sees the IP address the request comes from, a user-agent that names the AFDIM version, and the update channel requested. Nothing else is sent: no drawing content, no file names, no licence data, no personal data or customer data of the User, and nothing about the computer.
-
Automatic checking can be switched off in the Software’s settings. An administrator can also switch off updating when installing the Software.
-
Installing an update always requires the User to confirm. A release that changes these licence terms also asks the User to accept the new terms before it installs. A release that does not change the terms asks for no new acceptance.
-
The Software sends no telemetry and never uploads drawings.
-
The support bundle that the Software creates when the User asks for it in the Software’s settings is written to the User’s own computer and is never uploaded automatically. The User decides whether to send it to support.
-
When the User asks for a licence, the Licensor receives the following:
- the name to print on the licence;
- the email address to reply to;
- the order reference, if any;
- the AFDIM version;
- the time of the request;
- one-way hashes of identifiers of the computer; the identifiers themselves never leave it.
A licence request is sent only when the User sends it. The Privacy Policy describes how this data is kept.
-
After the User starts a trial, asks for a licence or activates a licence key, the Software contacts the licence server at api.afdim.com in the background to collect that licence or its renewal, as the Privacy Policy describes. Switching off automatic update checks does not stop these requests. An administrator can switch off every background check with the environment variable
AFDIM_DISABLE_BACKGROUND_SERVICES=1.
8. No warranty
The Software is provided “AS IS”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. This includes, without limitation, the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. The Licensor does not warrant that the Software will be error-free or uninterrupted.
The User remains responsible for checking every dimension produced by the Software before it is used for cutting, machining or fabrication.
If consumer law gives the User rights that cannot be excluded, this section does not limit them.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Licensor is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages. Whether damage is direct or indirect depends on its nature and applicable law, not its label; scrapped material is not automatically indirect damage. The Licensor’s total liability under any circumstances shall not exceed the amount actually paid by the User for the licence during the 12 months before the first event giving rise to the claim or, for a perpetual licence, the amount actually paid for that licence and its update renewals.
Nothing in this agreement excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
10. Termination
The Licensor may terminate a licence for a material or repeated breach of this agreement. For a remediable breach, the Licensor must give email notice stating the grounds and allow 30 days from receipt to remedy it before termination. Fraud or intentional circumvention of licensing may result in immediate termination with notice of the reasons. The User retains rights to contest the decision and seek legal remedies. On valid termination, use under that licence must stop; existing drawings and dimensions are unaffected.
- A trial, quarterly or yearly licence ends on the end date written in its licence file. A renewal is a new licence file with a new end date.
- A perpetual licence has no end date. An update renewal is a new licence file with a new end of the update period.
- A refund or chargeback ends only the entitlement funded by the reversed payment. Refunding the original licence ends that licence; refunding a term ends only that term; refunding an update renewal removes only that extension and preserves the perpetual licence and its previously paid update period. A tax-only or overpayment refund does not terminate the licence. Other partial refunds must identify affected entitlements in the refund confirmation without removing remaining paid rights. The Licensor notifies the User of the scope; withdrawn licences may be listed in the signed update feed so the Software stops accepting them. A computer move ends only use on the previous computer.
- If a licence has expired or is not valid, the Software refuses to run. It adds nothing to drawings, and the dimensions and drawings the User has already produced remain entirely the User’s.
11. Assignment and succession
The Licensor may transfer ownership of the Software to an entity they establish or control. Ownership transfer does not automatically transfer obligations to the User. Obligations may transfer only with valid User consent or a legal basis permitting the transfer. The successor must assume all obligations, preserve purchased rights and impose no transfer charge. The Licensor gives direct email notice identifying the successor, its address, contact details and transfer date, and remains responsible until obligations validly transfer.
The User may not assign this agreement or transfer the licence to a third party without the Licensor’s prior written consent, except as part of a transfer of the entire business unit that uses the Software.
12. Governing law
This agreement is governed by the law of Vietnam. A dispute is first settled by negotiation in good faith, by email. If negotiation does not settle it, the dispute is brought before a competent court in Vietnam.
If the User is a consumer, the mandatory protections of the law of the country where the User lives still apply.
13. Contact and support
For any question about this agreement or the Software, contact TÔ VĂN TÍN, trading as AFDIM, at Đông Môn Residential Group, Hòa Bình Ward, Hải Phòng City, Vietnam (postal code 04308), or by email at support@afdim.com.
14. Applicable documents and periods
Revision 5 applies to new agreements accepting it and does not retroactively reduce purchased rights. Vietnamese and English texts must be supplied before agreement; where consumer versions differ, the more favourable text applies. The Refund Policy forms part of the refund agreement; mandatory legal rights remain unaffected. In plan and computer-move provisions, an update period or move window called 12 months means 365 days; the specific end date must be supplied before payment. Moves from a permanently failed computer and reissue after reinstalling Windows are free. Other manual moves outside the allowance may carry a fee only after a quote and the User’s agreement; no fee is automatic and renewal cannot be required to preserve purchased rights.
